The Band

Originally from Nyon, in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland, the band The Red Fires was formed in 2008 around Bastien Martin (guitar, vocals), Jules Rossellat (guitar), Matthias Obrecht (bass) and Xavier Muff (drums).
Driven by a shared passion for 1970s rock, the four musicians began by writing their own material and performing at student parties, gradually making their way onto the stages and festival circuits of the canton. As they played more and more shows, their repertoire grew, their compositions became more refined and their live performances increasingly confident, fueled by a contagious energy that quickly won over audiences.
In 2012, Jules Rossellat's departure for London marked a turning point: The Red Fires welcomed Benoît Bricafiori on keyboards, whose Hammond organ brought new colours to the band's sound. His arrival also marked a shift in the project's musical identity: the arrangements became richer, the compositions more developed, and the musicians shaped an increasingly personal sound, without ever losing the raw energy that makes them such a powerful live act.
Inspired by Jimi Hendrix, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Queen and Led Zeppelin, they developed an organic brand of rock combining explosive guitar riffs, improvised solos, vintage-flavoured keyboards, a tight rhythm section and vocals ranging from visceral to melodic.
The name "The Red Fires", meanwhile, was inspired by the wildfire of the same name. It evokes both the raw, uncontrollable energy of rock and an awareness of the environmental challenges of our time.
In 2015, the band decided to put their activities on hold. Bastien and Benoît began Bachelor's degrees in Jazz at HEMU in Lausanne, while each member pursued their own musical and personal journey. Yet although the band stopped playing together, the bonds between the five members never faded: the friendship remained, and over the years, they continued to meet up regularly.
Ten years went by… Then, in 2025, drawing on their experience, musical maturity and an undiminished desire to play together, the five friends decided to rekindle the flame!
The Red Fires rose from the ashes with a new ambition: to professionalize every aspect of their live project, revisit their earlier compositions, create new material and deliver a powerful, polished and thoroughly participatory show.
Because for the band, a concert is about much more than simply playing music: the audience is an integral part of the experience. Getting people to sing, move, respond to the riffs and share the energy of the stage — every show is an opportunity to nurture that festive, spontaneous spirit that makes rock such a deeply alive and human experience.
The Red Fires are back! More experienced, more determined than ever, and with one burning desire: to set the stage on fire! 🔥
